Tobias Prenen era um violoncelista bem-sucedido. Após uma parada cardíaca, em 1997, sua vida teve uma mudança drástica. Ele ficou em coma por várias semanas e, quando acordou, estava física e mentalmente lesado. Aos 39 anos, Tobias viu-se em uma cadeira de rodas, sem conseguir falar nem tocar violoncelo. Segundo sua família e seus melhores amigos, Tobias não pode ser feliz neste estado. Mas ele sempre diz que está bastante feliz. Tobias Prenen used to be a successful cellist. Following heart failure in 1997, his life took a dramatic turn. He was in a coma for several weeks and, when he woke up, he turned out to be physically and mentally handicapped. At the age of 39, Tobias found himself in a wheelchair and was no longer able to talk or play the cello. According to his family and his best friend, Tobias cannot be happy in this state. But he regularly says that he is very happy. Everyone is wrestling with the question whether the Tobias they once knew would like to have lived on as today’s Tobias.

Podemos observar as crianças durante suas atividades diárias, quando elas aprendem a abotoar a roupa, amarrar os cadarços, reconhecer sons e objetos e cozinhar. Entrevistadas, elas falam sobre o que querem ser quando crescer e mostram acreditar que não existem barreiras ou limites para elas.
The film is about blind children being prepared for an independent life by teachers at a Center for Blind People. We can observe the children during their everyday activities, when they learn how to button up, tie their shoelaces and recognize sounds and objects. They also speak about their expectations for the future. The things that are obvious and easy for people who can see, for them, are often very complicated.

Franek and Andrzej met in a school for special care children. They are both handicapped. I’m physically disabled and Franek is mentally disabled. ”I am his brain and he is my hands” says Andrzej, introducing us to this extraordinary friendship which has continued ever since they were children.
