In the 1950s a polio epidemic raged. Thousands of people caught the disease in a few months, most of them children. The film director Niels Frandsen was one year old when his hips and legs were affected. In this poetic film essay he returns to the fateful period that he cannot remember, but will never forget. His parents, his sister and archive footage help him to furnish words and images for a personal account that is also a historical record.
