The portrait of a man with Down syndrome is mixed with a recreation of scenes of Homer’s Odyssey. In this short film, there are mistaken identities, disguises, and disorientation. Sooi is portrayed as someone who is in the early stages of dementia. He forgets things, he wanders around in the senior citizens’ home, makes identity mistakes and gets entangled in delusions.

A história começa quando Just encontra Ieva na porta do prédio em que moram. Eles começam uma conversa em tom de flerte, que é interrompida por dois ladrões, que roubam Ieva na frente de Just. Em um piscar de olhos, Just decide seguir os ladrões para recuperar a bolsa de Ieva e conquistar seu coração.
The film is inspired by the incredible true story about a young man who lost both of his legs in a childhood accident and who is in love with the girl next door. The story begins when Just meets Ieva on the doorstep of the house they both live in. They start a flirty conversation that is interrupted by two thieves, who rob Ieva in front of Just. In the blink of an eye Just decides to follow the thieves to retrieve Ieva’s bag and conquer her heart.

Michalis é um jovem que vive na Atenas contemporânea. Usando sua cadeira de rodas, seu cotidiano é uma aventura cheia de obstáculos. Preso entre carros, degraus e sacos de lixo, cercado por pedestres, ele encontra maneiras criativas de circular pelas ruas. Michalis Damaskinos, protagonista do filme, é campeão paraolímpico grego de tênis.
“On the square”, beyond the mathematical meaning, in Greek means a block of buildings or the pavement that surrounds a block. Michalis is a young man, living in modern-day Athens. Confined to a wheelchair, his daily outing becomes an adventure filled with obstacles. Trapped between cars, hemmed in by scaffolding and piles of garbage, surrounded by people, he resorts to innovative means in order to be able to go around the block. Michalis Damaskinos, the person playing the leading character, is actually disabled and he is a national tennis champion in the Paralympics.

O filme retrata os preconceitos vividos e descritos por deficientes visuais que tentam se adaptar à vida em sociedade. O roteiro, escrito por oito alunos do Instituto Benjamim Constant, no Rio de Janeiro, foi inspirado por uma mostra de cinema sobre necessidades especiais (Assim Vivemos). No filme, os próprios alunos deficientes visuais alternam entre papéis de videntes e vítimas do preconceito.
The film shows scenes of prejudice as they were experienced and described by visualy disabled people who are trying to live regular lifes. The screenplay was written by eight students of the Benjamin Constant Institut, a school for blind children in Rio de Janeiro, and was inspired by the Brazilian Film Festival on Disability. On this film, the visually disabled students alternately play the roles of seeing people and the roles of the victims of prejudice.

Neste vídeo, a coreografia remete não apenas à relação entre o professor de dança e seu aluno, mas também à relação entre o indivíduo considerado ‘normal’, com um corpo ‘perfeito’ e ‘modelado’, e o outro que foge a esse padrão. Dançando juntos, mostram-nos a possibilidade de caminhar lado a lado, fazendo parte da mesma ‘dança’.
In this video, the choreography leads us not only to the relationship between a dance teacher and his pupil but also leads us to the relationship between an individual considered normal, with his ”perfect” and ”chiselled” body, and another one whose body is out of the standard. Dancing together, they show us the possibility of walking side by side, taking part in the same dance.
