Uma pessoa cega assiste a um filme numa sala de projeção. Ouvimos uma voz que explica o que está se passando na tela.
A seguir, vamos uma série de entrevistas do diretor com diversas pessoas cegas em busca do exercício inverso: as imagens cinematográficas buscando reproduzir as percepções cotidianas descritas pelos cegos. A percepção visual combina-se com as imagens construídas pelos cegos, fazendo-nos reconsiderar as relações entre imagem e espectador.
A blind person is in a screening room watching a film. Someone provides a voiceover to explain what is happening on screen. Afterwards there is a series of interviews between the director and several blind people allowing us to perform an inverse exercise: the cinematographic image seeks out the everyday perceptions as described by a blind person. The visual perception matches the blind person’s image making us re-consider the relationship between image and spectator.

Gerda König, 39 anos, é dançarina, coreógrafa e tem atrofia muscular. Devido à falta de força nos braços e pernas, ela é dependente de uma cadeira de rodas elétrica. À primeira vista, esta pequenina mulher parece ser vulnerável e precisar de cuidados e proteção. Mas, no palco, sua fascinante personalidade emerge. Ela consegue dominar o público com o menor dos movimentos.
Com seu grupo, tem participado regularmente de festivais de dança em diferentes lugares do mundo. O filme acompanha o processo de criação da peça “CounterCircles” em Nairobi, capital do Quênia. Por meio de elaborados testes, foram selecionados cinco dançarinos, entre portadores e não-portadores de deficiência. Juntaram-se a eles dois dançarinos do grupo permanente de Gerda para um trabalho de oito semanas de duração.
The 39-year-old Cologne dancer and choreographer Gerda König has muscular atrophy. Because no new muscle tissue is forming, she leads a life with no strength in her arms or legs. She is dependent on an electric wheelchair. At first sight, this petite woman would appear vulnerable, in need of care and protection. But on stage, a fascinating personality emerges. She puts the audience under her spell with the smallest of movements. With her ensemble she is a regular guest at dance-theatre festivals worldwide. The film looks at the development of the dance piece ”CounterCircles” in Nairobi, Kenya. In an elaborate audition, five dancers, with and without disabilities, were selected for the eight-week engagement. In addition there were two dancers from the permanent German ensemble.

Neste vídeo, a coreografia remete não apenas à relação entre o professor de dança e seu aluno, mas também à relação entre o indivíduo considerado ‘normal’, com um corpo ‘perfeito’ e ‘modelado’, e o outro que foge a esse padrão. Dançando juntos, mostram-nos a possibilidade de caminhar lado a lado, fazendo parte da mesma ‘dança’.
In this video, the choreography leads us not only to the relationship between a dance teacher and his pupil but also leads us to the relationship between an individual considered normal, with his ”perfect” and ”chiselled” body, and another one whose body is out of the standard. Dancing together, they show us the possibility of walking side by side, taking part in the same dance.

Digital Artist Scott Ligon has completed his first animated short film, ”Escape Velocity”. The film explores the connection between A.D.D. and creativity using his own life in self-deprecating, humorous examples. Scott forms a stream of consciousness, multi-layered narrative that emulates the day to day A.D.D. experience. The film is also a reminder of the value of creative thought as the prime mover in human endeavor. The film is developing a cult following among creative people, and individuals and families associated with A.D.D.
